About
About Our SchoolElverado Primary School is home to the youngest Falcons in Elverado CUSD 196, from our SIU Pre-K program through second grade.
Our Mission
What We Stand For
At Elverado Primary School, we strive to create a community built on academic growth, compassion, and kindness. This will empower all students to learn, thrive, and do good things in life.
We build that foundation early, partnering with families every step of the way so our youngest Falcons become confident readers, curious learners, and kind classmates who know that school is a safe and welcoming place.
Our School
A Place for Our Youngest Falcons to Grow
Elverado Primary School is located at 114 South 8th Street in Elkville, Illinois, and serves students in our SIU Pre-K program, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Drop-off and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., students are in their classrooms by 7:55, and instruction runs from 8:05 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. (1:50 p.m. on Mondays).
Every student can start the day with a free breakfast, and lunch is free for all students too. For safety, our building stays locked during the school day and visitors buzz in at the main door. Bus transportation is available for students who live 1.5 miles or more from school.

Our Vision
Building a Strong Foundation
Our SIU Pre-K classrooms help our youngest learners get ready for kindergarten, building early language, social, and school-readiness skills through play and hands-on activities.
Kindergarten students begin building the foundations of reading, writing, and math while learning how to be part of a classroom community. Each year starts with our schoolwide “Behavior Bootcamp” to teach expectations in every part of the building.
In first and second grade, students grow as readers, writers, and problem-solvers. Our reading teacher, special education teacher, social worker, and instructional aides work alongside classroom teachers so every student gets the support they need.
